My Mobile Desk!

My studio has been too hot to work in over the last couple of weeks so I transferred some embroidery bits into a tin lid and that has been my mobile desk!  It's accompanied me around the house and garden letting me settle wherever I want to and although the weather has cooled down a bit, it is currently on the table next to my armchair so I can watch the Olympics!
In the lid is a jumble of everything I need - embroidery threads in the colours I'm currently obsessed with, some rust printed cotton and cyanotype printed silk that I have torn into squares, plus needlebook and scissors - all set for making card toppers!

I assembled a few cards yesterday with some of the squares but still have quite a few to do. These are in my favourite summer theme of the garden at night.

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. I’m watching a lot of ally pics too Diana, but am not as productive in the watching, I must say! Love the teeny beadwork and embroidery, and the method of toting it around the house, so economic..makes me feel clumsy just looking at it!

  2. The tin made me laugh but it’s the perfect receptacle for all your crafty bits. The little Night Garden embroideries are exquisite, I adore them, you are so clever. I’ve been crocheting squares whilst Olympics watching, less warm than a whole blanket, lol!!

  5. Oh Diana, those are simply exquisite - I love the one on the left especially. You are so talented, can turn your hand to anything, and what you do is always beautifully executed.

  6. What a neat little mobile workstation, Diana! Sadly, it wouldn't work with all my junk, but that's the advantage of working on your delicate, meticulous projects - I can definitely see the appeal there! I recognised the cyanotype prints - I've been looking into that and almost bought a kit. I'm a bit disappointed though that it only does blue, but that's why it's called *cyan*otype, I guess! Such delicate embroidery! Enjoy the rest of the Olympics! xx zsuzsa #16

  10. Oh, just gorgeous, Diana. I bought some cyanotype stuff at the last craft show I went to and haven't tried it yet! One day, one day... I adore the vibrant colour. I have always absolutely loved your night-time garden theme. When I was embroidering my felt slippers (remember those?) I also had everything on a tray - it was actually the lid of a plastic storage box - very convenient for moving around, and keeping everything together and in view.

Thank you for your lovely visit. and for your encouragement regarding my treatment. I think it's much better to get as much information as possible before the appointment because it's easy to get overwhelmed with unfamiliar information in that setting, and hard to remember afterwards what was said. I've more or less determined not to go down the chemo route now, unless the prognosis is so bad that I won't survive without it - not likely, given the other results which are very positive. I really can't face putting my body through such an onslought again...

So glad you liked my little sample pieces. I used to use Pumice Stone a lot in the early days but somehow got out of the habit - it is lovely for dulling down bright colours. I often used to stamp or paint with it on coloured card for a nice muted effect. I'm definitely going to give it more of an airing from now on. The ToDo machine is a huge success - I did some die cutting this afternoon which came out really well.

I think the kitties are happier now it's cooler. Ruby is behind my head at the moment, asleep on my neck pillow again!

    Happy WOYWW,

  12. I'm with you, this weather makes it really difficult to craft. We're just not used to this kind of weather. Loving the embroidered tops on your cards they look lovely. I have done something like this before and scanned the design to use on more cards. I know it's not quite the same but it's a great way to complete cards quickly and sometimes that's just what you need. Happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x14x
