Stripes Collage and WOYWW

What a strange week it's been - the Hubster and I had our 4th jabs this week and he's absolutely fine, not a single symptom and yet I was laid out for nearly three days with nausea and flu like symptoms - very different from the last three jabs but I'm not complaining as I'm very aware I'd rather have those than the actual virus!
While feeling rather weakened I've done a little dabbling in the studio and completed a very simple little collage from the Collage Workbook by Randel Plowman.  The objective was to make a collage using two images torn into strips - even I could manage that I thought - however it all started going askew, obviously the strips weren't completely parallel to each other but to be honest I'd expended so much energy on it by then that I just didn't care - normally I'd start again so you can judge how wiped out I felt!

Not quite a desk shot but one just to the side of my desk. Earlier in the week (pre-jabs) I tackled the ghastly mess that was my 12x12 papers - they are now sorted - some have gone to local ladies who craft, the rest are in colour groups, labelled and sitting in these wonderful Ikea magazine racks that have grown over the years from just 6 to a whole wall full!

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. I love the colours in your torn paper collage. I do hope you soon feel better - this virus has a lot to answer for - even when you don't actually have it. Let's hope the jab protects you from that at least. xx Jo

  2. Poor you suffering from booster side effects like that, it’s weird how it gets people differently. Hope you’re feeling a lot better now. I love your neatly sorted papers and the abstract is interesting, love the colours..I find it so hard to do random or abstract, my brain doesn’t work that way!

  3. Ugh, so sorry about your jab reaction, it’s bizarre isn’t it, there appears to be no rhyme or reason to reactions at all. Hope you feel back on top very soon. Love the collage…it’s my opinion that the success of these things lie with the choices of the two pictures, and you have the eye, see, so it works. I LOVE seeing the storage racks, but mostly the China on their lovely plinth shelves!

  4. I can imagine that lining up those strips is a tricky business, but the result is well worth it - beautiful complementary images which play lovely tricks with the eyes! Excellent paper storage too. I hope you're soon feeling fully recovered from the jab side-effects. Take care.

  5. Sorry to hear you had a bad reaction, we haven’t heard about our 4th jab yet. I really like your collage, I think those two images work well together. Without getting out a ruler I think they are straight. Happy WOYWW and have a great week. Angela #13

  6. Whoo Hoo I like those wall racks - just what I could do with (had I got wall space). A great idea Diana.
Sorry to hear you have been so unwell following the 4th booster. I just wish someone would message me about mine. Not that I want to be wiped out like you but I just feel I would be happier with it.
    Hugs, Neet xx 5
ps hope you feel 100% soon

  7. Hi Diana, I love the journal project. I have to admit to buying the book as I really need some help if I'm going to fill some journals. All I need now is to get on with it but I've been working with resin recently and got distracted and I have some MDF projects to complete......just wish I could concentrate on one thing Lol! And of course there's still the sorting to do! Oh dear Hee! Hee! Have a lovely creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x15x

  8. Afternoon Diana. Actually, I love that collage. Love the colours and the way it almost looks like you are peering through a window to the back image. I know you would rather throw it out - but I do hope you don't.
Take care. Feel better soon. God bless.

  10. sorry you've been suffering from the latest booster. not sure I will be offered one. Hope you feel better soon. Loving the layered collage. I knew in advance that the show would be disappointing from the point of view of which companies they had managed to sign up, so at least I was forewarned! Take care,, stay safe. Helen #2

  15. Sorry to hear your jab made you feel poorly. It’s as well to have them though, as you say. Covid figures are climbing again.
I love your form collage, a very effective choice of images.
Take care; have a good week

  16. OHMY, I LOVE how you ordened your paper, mine are still in an old 'record-suit' (which has just the right size for 12x12 scrap paper I must say...) and I have to take out the complete stash every time I look for one sheet... I do hope you feel better by now! My son catched the actual virus (after having three shots) and it's a nasty virus, he lost taste and smell and after one week is still very, VERY tired all the time... hope you stay well! Thanks for stopping by my desk yesterday, have a good week dear! Love & peace from the Netherlands! Marit #4

  18. Hi Diana, sorry I am so late returning your visit. Yes I've decided the stencil is a hare. As for Christmas - of course you can mention it!! I'm still doing my Christmas stuff, I find I enjoy it more now when I have time to play and there's no deadline looming. Not for everyone but suits me. So sorry to hear you have been poorly with yur 4th jab. I have to say although people seem to be coping well with the latest variant, every now and again you hear of someone who's completely floored by it. I agree I don't want to test it out to see which would be me! Hope by now you ae feeling beter. I actually like that collage, the two images seem to work well together. Have a good week, Cindy ##12 xx

  19. So sorry to be so late this week, or was it last week! Son gone, feeling a tad better so loads to catch up with.

Personally the torn piece looks amazing to me. Your brain sees one whole image then the other, it is fascinating. The magazine holders are just the ticket for your 12x12s great use. Sorry to hear the jab knocked you out. My worst fear is nausea which is the main reason for not having the vaccinations at all. Now I have had COVID and although the cough is lingering on (but that's the same with any cold/cough I get) Happy yo say I didn't get any nausea so that was a HUGE PLUS for me. Anyway hope you are feeling better now.

    Thanks for visiting me BJ#8
