Collages, Squares and Rectangles

I've squeezed in a little bit of collage time this week, despite real life demanding a lot of my time, and I've been continuing with The Collage Workbook by Randel Plowman.  This first collage is using several images cut into squares and rectangles and rearranged.

And these next two collages are of a single image cut into squares and reassembled.  I have done two as I decided I was getting a bit 'black and white' and needed to branch into some colour!

Some more collaging on my desk this morning - this time it's about including numbers and what better use for an old Logarithms book that I found during our mammoth clear out recently.  I loathed them at school, and I'm so glad to have found a better use for them!

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. I like all the collages Diana. It makes me want to go back to my No Rules Patchwork course that I keep dipping in and out of.
Have a lovely crafty week. Hope real life doesn’t get in the way too much

  2. Isn't it strange how the same rule changes when in colour as opposed to black and white. I love black and white but must say the coloured page excites me more. That's not to say I don't like the black and white ones, in fact the first one is my favourite.
How fabulous to have found an old log book, the one thing I liked at school in math lessons. I've often looked for one in old bookshops but never been lucky, guess most ended up on a dump.

  5. I was so intrigued by this book that I actually managed to buy one and there are some great ideas to get you started with Collage all I have to do now is get my finger out and do something! I have stacks of magazines and interesting bits and pieces I've saved with the intention of doing this but never really got into it. I really must try harder. Quite fancy doing some Surrealist style collage, so we'll see. Happy creative woyww, Angela x14x

  6. Great collages, I must admit to having difficulty in finding pictures. I may have to end up printing them!
Just had a thought about looking for books instead of magazines in the charity shop. Happy WOYWW. Angela #5

  8. Your collages are beautiful Diana. What did you use for the ribbed effect on the first one? Was it ploughed fields like the 2nd one? It makes me wonder what a mainly monochrome but with occasional pop of colour would look like.
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  10. I'd love to say I want a full one but that would be telling a fib. I just wanted some for collage so 'yes please' but now I feel I almost asked for some. What can I send in return please?

  12. Love your collage squares, Diana - they look very arty! Those logarithms will come in handy one day, I'm sure - they can look great in art projects and that's about as far as I'm interested in numbers LOL! Thanks so much for your visit and kind words. I'm getting there, it just takes time :) Have a lovely week! xx zsuzsa #16
