WOYWW #326

I met up with Lunch Lady Jan and Julia for a coffee last week and it was lovely.  We laughed and chatted our way through the morning and Jan gave me this beautiful bag - I'm so thrilled with it and adore Jan's beautiful taste in fabrics and exquisite workmanship.  A HUGE thank you Jan!

Why, oh why didn't I crochet this, knitting takes so long - perhaps it's because I love my knitting needles so much!

I'm linking up with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday this week, and that's what's on mine - about 6" of knitting that's taken me two months to do so far - I have a horrible feeling this will still be in the knitting bag in years to come!

  1. It was so wonderful to meet you Diana! I hope we do it again soon :-). I'm thrilled with the little miniature you gave me, it's on my Workdesk as I type!
I love the yarn you're using...the only reassurance I can give is that it would have been a b&@£@r to crochet being all bobbly and random. Lovely colour though. Stick with it...a few rows every evening and you'll soon be there!!

  3. What a beautiful gift from your friend, the fabric is gorgeous. And Jan is so right, crocheting that yarn would be a real bitch, I know, I have tried with similar yarn, lol. I do love your knitting needles, and even though I am not much of a knitter, I think it would be very pleasurable to knit with those beauties.

  12. The botany teacher in me just adores that bag! Can picture the 3 of you sitting together laughing up a storm! I like the texture of the yarn you are using, knitting a little each day will get it done. Looking forward to seeing the amazing finished product! Diane #35

  13. As soon as the weather turns cold, my knitting needles come out. I am not very good at making too many things, always wanted to make a sweater with the fancy yoke pattern, but that will probably never happen, but there is really something special about those lovely wooden needles, they handle so beautifully, huge sigh~

  14. I am green with envy that you managed to meet up with 2 deskers, Diana! What fun, and what a gorgeous bag too! The knitting is gorgeous, that lovely slubby yarn. Never fear, my last knitting project took two years to complete - but we did move house in the middle of that. I've never seen knitting needles like that before - most unusual and so beautiful, but then I'd expect nothing less for you! I nearly always use circular needles because you don't have to carry the weight of the knitting, which sits in your lap.

Thank you for two simply wonderful comments - praise indeed coming from you, whose work I so admire! I am so glad you like my Zentangle drawing. I feel very flattered to have been approached for publication - a first for me. Also glad you like the cat box - it's a real treasure. Once I'm better, and get my sewing machine going again, I shall be practising my free motion embroidery on a series of mini-cats! I think the maker of the box would approve.

Thanks also for the good wishes for my ongoing chemo - the weeks do indeed seem to be flying by, and there are only 3 left to go now. I'm getting pretty fed up with having only one good week in three but it will soon be over and hopefully soon I will be back on track with my life - but a changed life!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  15. Llj. Makes beautiful bags and this one is gorgeous! I would have bought it if I saw it in a shop as anything with butterflies catches my eye. Good luck with your knitting. :)

  16. I love your bag and that is my favourite fabric. I'm just a little green with envy, okay very green (he he) and not just over the bag but the fact that you got to meet LLJ and Julia. I'd have to take a very big cut lunch to do that all the way from Australia. Those knitting needles are gorgeous. It doesn't matter how long you take when you are knitting in style like that. I'm hopeless at knitting, so you are way ahead of me. Have a great week.

  17. What a gorgeous bag! The material is beautiful! So sweet of LLJ to give you that.
Are those really knitting needles? Are you sure they are not walking sticks?! Wow! I've never seen those. What are you making?
Thanks for visiting a few days ago. As you know, I take my time. Besides, we've been away too for a few days and the campsite doesn't have wifi.
    Have a good week,

  18. Well, Diana - you will finish your knitting way before I do, since I have no clue how to knit! I love your yarn - looks so soft and full of texture. And what a fabulous bag - quite reflects your botanical interests! xxx Lynn

  20. Lucky girl, I can certainly see why she chose that bag for you! And your knitting is beautiful, as are your needles - leave it to you to have beautiful knitting needles. I just hope that's not supposed to be a sweater to keep you warm this winter!
