For Paper Artsy I crocheted my own niche!
I used a nesty brown colour yarn and needle felted over it.
I decorated it with lace, beads, feathers, vintage millinery flowers,
moss, moths and a miniature cup and teapot.
Bunting was added - it looked too twee.
Bunting was taken away - the top half looked too bare.
Bunting was added again - still unsure.
Bunting might be removed again depending on my mood!
Bunting might be removed again depending on my mood!
I was initially inspired by the beautiful image of a small cart with the bird in it (on the Paper Artsy blog here) and I planned to make a little nest for a bird, with lots of precious bits collected. However, as often happens it turned out differently to how I imagined and I ended up with a tea party and not a bird in sight!
Very beautiful, just love it.

ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness you have done it again...that nest is one of my favorites so far, just gorgeous and so delicate. I feel so lazy, for I do well to get my life in order each day and you just keep on creating beauty Happy week my friend~
ReplyDeleteHow delightful! Now you got me imagining myself in a giant nest having a tea party with a frivolous little Magpie and a non-stop chattering Hoopoe. And Mr. Dragonfly is eavesdropping on our gossiping.
ReplyDeleteOh dear............

I so love the detail you bring to your work. It is like an illustration of a fairy tale come to life! I rather like the bunting, personally: it seems to provide the finishing touch. xxx

What a lovely creation! Brilliant idea and very pretty bird nest. xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this! It is so fabulous! I love everything about it including the bunting! The tea pot and cup are a wonderful touch! I just love it.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look twee - it really doesn't. It looks magical and wonderful - makes me think of Wind in the Willows. Something, if you were very lucky, you might happen upon on the riverbank, maybe spy a fairy or two taking tea with a mouse.
ReplyDeleteOh My!
ReplyDeleteIt couldn't have turned out any lovelier!
Every detail is precious...I have been looking for a tiny tea cup and tea pot like that for a bench in my fairy garden.
I think it's extra wonderful that you "made" the nest too...
the bunting looks really festive.
Now I must go to the Urban Dictionary and look up "twee" ;-)

ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful! I think I like the bunting, it's not too cutesy. It just kind of sets the mood of a tea party to celebrate the return of Spring. I love the little details you've included, like the beaded mesh and the bit of lace or whatever that is under the teacup.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! Don't know where to start, the bunting, a crocheted nest! felting...sublime, LOVE it! Ruth x
