Winter Wall Hanging

On my desk this week for WOYWW - a small winter garden wall hanging.
I've been working on it  for a long time but put it to one side when it didn't seem to be going in the direction I wanted.
After a break from each other we made friends again and I think I am calling it finished now!

I recently came across a technique over at Patty's blog Magpie's Nest for making faux resin paper - she makes some beautiful art with it and it's well worth a look.  Here's a link to the Youtube video tutorial.  It seemed so easy that I just had to give it a try and I was really pleased with the results - here's some of it being used in the little wall hanging.

  6. Lovely. Love that you know when to set aside and walk around. And that you know when to stop and call something finished..that is such a skill. And of course, really enjoying the mix of media on this piece, and the button nestled into the folds, clever..!

  10. I love the choice of elements you have chosen for this piece. I especially like the way the lace is longer on one side than on the other. Thank you for the link to the video. I't's great when such a simple technique can make something so interesting.

  11. Gogeous little hanging and a real you piece Diana. There's something about your style and the way you manipulate the fabrics that makes these pieces all your own. The resin paper sounds interesting so will pop over and have a look. Thanks for the visit, Angela x 24

  19. That's a fab technique and thanks for the link. I've seen Linda Kemshall demo something similar, but she dipped the paper into a tray of melted beeswax. The effect is the same and so cool.
