The Walled Garden

On my desk this week is a small textile collage.
It's following my current theme of the garden and it depicts a small walled garden, with an open archway leading into the flower garden.  It's about 6cm by 6cm.  I'd love a little arch or secret door in my own garden!

I'm linking up with Julia over at What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

  3. You and me both! A walled garden with an archway is what I'd give my eye teeth for!! Maybe it's from reading The Secret Garden as a kid. Either that, or The perfumed garden instead, lolol!!!

  4. Oh yes a walled garden with a little arch and gate .... really evokes childhood memories from stories I used to read. Looks like you have captured it in your small piece.

  8. Ahh that is so pretty..... love those subtle colours.

I love a walled garden too. One of my favourite books is The Secret Garden. I love gardens with lovely old wooden gates built into a nice old wall. I love walls and bricks :)

Love things growing in walls too!

  13. A flowery bower! I absolutely love the combinations of fabrics, patterns and textures Diana! I am always pestering my husband to build me a high wall to enclose a walled garden, but he says that it would be too expensive! Enjoying yours instead! X

  14. Oh Diana, that is adorable... I so agree about arches into secret gardens... Probably because I was brought up on "The Secret Garden" and absolutely loved it! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and I'm glad you like the 2 cards I made for my hubby. Thank you also for your good wishes for our anniversary and also for my forthcoming treatment.

    Happy WOYWW,

  15. I can't imagine anything more magical than a walled garden - and you've captured that magic beautifully. I can just picture roses climbing up the walls!

  17. Hello Diana, I'm visiting from Julia's WOYWW. I was intrigued by "Velvet Moth Studio" and wanted to see what goes on here!
Definitely worth my visit, just to see this lovely textile work. I like the garden idea, with the beading, seed stitch and fibre work. The little motif under the arch is pretty. How wonderful to think that someone once spent hours, hand-stitching the mat/table-cloth that you have used a fragment of for your background - and also that they spent even more hours on the crochet edging! A lovely combination of old and new - and a beautiful little piece of work. TFS!

    Have a good weekend,
