Continuing my monthly project of using a forgotten item from my stash, this month I'm using a Tim Holtz butterfly punch. I haven't had it that long but it was purchased on a whim with no idea in mind about what I would do with it!
So, keeping with my theme of my garden at night I played about in my sketchbook and using a resist technique with a flower stamp and some new Distress Crayons I created a moonlit background - perfect for the butterfly punch which now became a moth punch! I added double layered moths with gold ink edging and a stamped vellum top layer.
I'm joining Julia over at What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday
That's beautiful Diana - well done for finding a great use for the "whim" purchase.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I love what you've done with the butterfly punch- great idea to make them moths instead. Amazing what a change of colour can achieve.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Hugs, Shaz #8. xxx
I just love your garden at night theme--it is unique and gorgeous. I do that too...actually too often...when it comes to purchasing crafting items without any idea of what I'm going to do with them! Beautiful post today. Sandy Leigh #29
ReplyDeleteWhen you bought that punch I am sure you had in the back of your mind that it was a moth punch not a butterfly punch. Lol! I love the idea of using the vellum.
ReplyDeleteoh I love that punch, and what you've done with it.. I've not seen that one, might have to look out for it... Helen#2
ReplyDeleteBuying things on a whim??! I've never done that....cough.... 😉 It's a beautiful punch and you've worked your usual magic on it. Gorgeous work.

Lovely, Diana - again you've made a beautiful subtle colour scheme and nice to see you using your beloved moths again! I love the idea of your forgotten stash theme. I am definitely into using up stuff that's been hanging around for ages - sometimes it presents a challenge but you feel so good afterwards, especially if the reason for not having used it is that you don't like it!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't done WOYWW again this week because nothing to show - I'm working on my woodland photos with the intention of making a mini-album about that beautiful place.
Have a great week.

Oh yes I know about buying things on a whim. You have made a whim a centre piece and it is stunning. Thanks for your lovely comments :)

Love how you have done the butterflies, soft yet strong. BJ#24
ReplyDeleteGorgeous butterflies! I'm still trying to use up my left over Masterboards and have been surprised to find just how much I have. Hopefully if we use up all this forgotten stuff we should have more room for new stuff! Happy woyww, Angela x 15
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely no worries, Diana - I don't mind at all! Sometimes life gets in the way, doesn't it! Thanks for your return visit. Yes, computer woes rule at the moment but we are gradually getting through it. Still struggling with getting the Macs on the network but hoping for some forum help with that. Thanks for your kind words about my Zentangles, and yes, it is rather a thrill to be in print twice in quick succession like that!

This is beguiling, that sense of mystery of the night is beautifully captured. I am sure I can sense of those moths fluttering nearby.

The stamped vellum makes your moths look gorgeous - matte and translucently delicate. How lovely!

Exquisite and so evocative of a night garden!! I am far behind in visits due to travel, but hoping to catch up soon - have missed looking at your beautiful work!! xxx Lynn
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you could go to the dustbin get 'stuff' out and make it look pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty, glittery edge to the moths... I 'googled' what a group of moths is called.... an 'eclipse'. I'm sure you knew that being so 'into' moths, but what a wonderful word for them.
Pouring with rain here.... very good for the allotment :)
Hope you have a lovely weekend

Moths are so much cooler than butterflies, aren't they? Love the delicate grey shades in this! I didn't realize we were holidaying near your town! We stayed in Hythe and explored the forest from there. Small world - or rather - small UK! We could have met up if we had known! Sorry it's taken me this long to return your visit - I'm trying to get back on track after our holiday. Hope to see you again this week for WOYWW! zsuzsa #21
