I really don't do the beach in summer, although I do spend many hours at our local beach out of season and love it. Somehow the three little backgrounds I had left over from last weeks collages just screamed 'seaside' at me, helped along by me finding a piece of sea pottery with a pretty wave pattern on it!
It also gave me the perfect opportunity to use more of my old clay pipe stems - they make a perfect breakwater! The gold foil I used on all three is not showing up very well in the photos but in one of two of these detailed shots you can see the light glinting on the gold of the coral, the sea glass and the stamped seashell.
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.
Oh wow, love this so much! The colours and textures are just perfect and that little bit of sea glass is gorgeous! I recognised the clay pipe stems straight away, having dug up a fair few in my time as an archaeology student. And I prefer the beach in the cooler seasons too, more invigorating :-D

Wow, this is beautiful Diana, so full of texture and detail. I don't like the beach in this weather either, far too hot and crowded. Have a good week. Sarah #14

wow loving this! the beach is best without lots of people and not too hot! yes, it was a passionflower on the gin box. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteI apologize for visiting so late. I’m having a terrible time with my internet. I’ve even called my internet provider twice this morning, but they were little help.
ReplyDeleteI am swooning over those beach scenes, as I swoon over most of what you create. I loved the rusty house, the fences made from the beads, and the little flags that found their way into your project. Thanks for stopping by earlier. Happy WOYWW from # 4.
Oh gosh these are lovely, I particularly like the stamped shell, what a fab image. SO clever with the clay pipes....great inspiration considering your an out of season beachsider!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana. Absolutely stunning. That's the type of thing that would look perfect in my summer house! Everything just gels together perfectly! Thanks for stopping by earlier and have a lovely week Heather x #12

ReplyDeleteHi Diana, gorgeous projects and they certainly remind me of the beach. We like to go to the East coast before the children break up and of course the weather has been so lovely too. I think you may have guessed what my pebbles are for. Have a lovely woyww, Angela x13x
ReplyDeleteThere's always a treat awaiting when I visit, your ATC's are a sheer delight with those which work like a dream together. I can understand completely why you chose to visit the beach out of season, I too think the beach is best enjoyed when there are less people upon it.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful Sea Pottery find works perfectly with your clay pipes Diana,
Thank you so much for sharing WOYWW and for your sweet visit.
Wishing you a wonderful day Tracey #2
Beautiful pieces. Looking at the colors I can see where the beach spoke to you. Creative Blessings! Kelly #31

Stunning - such lovely colours. I love the use of old clay pipe stems - we find bits in our garden now and then. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteWhat absolutely gorgeous pieces, Diana - as you know I love everything to do with the sea. The clay pipe stems are an inspiration. Did you find them yurself? I love the colour and texture of the shells and all the different elements that come together so well. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment and I'm sorry to be so long replying - another very busy week I'm afraid!
ReplyDeleteKefir does work out expensive to buy, but it's cheap as chips to make once you get hold of some kefir grains to get started. If you haven't got a kind friend locally to give you some, here's a good site: https://happykombucha.co.uk/collections/all-kefir-grains-and-kits
All you do is pour whole milk over the grains and in 24-48 hours they do their stuff and ferment the milk into kefir. I'm so enjoying messing around with all this stuff and feeling so much better as a result, although I am so tird in between my activites at the moment!
Happy belated WOYWW,

Love your work, it appeals to all my senses..... so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHello Diana. Thank you so much for visiting, a thousand apologies for my late reply. Last Wed I went off down South to visit my lovely Mum and time ran away . I was at the seaside but it was far too hot and too many people! Lovely to be there again as I love the sea but in quieter times. Your work is gorgeous. I have a little collection of sea glass - love it. Anne x 28

ReplyDeleteLove, love, love these! All those tiny, perfect details are just stunning! Nothing short of perfection!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I missed these at the time, but just caught sight of a close-up on Pinterest, and I'm so happy I did. Stunning, stunning, stunning. The colours, the rusty house, the sea glass, the pipe stems, the glint of gold coral... completely in love with these. You've captured the salt air in this art.
