I've been using up the leftover scraps of backgrounds from my last two projects (here and here) and decided to die cut and punch out butterflies from them to make up some cards that I need for the coming weeks.
The seed head in this one was pressed a couple of years ago and used in Gelli printing, that's why it's covered in black paint - I knew I'd use it one day!
This one will be attached to a card shortly but it's a little too 3D to be posted easily - why do I always forget that when I'm busy making!
I stained some ribbon and wrapped it around a wire circle for the base - I gave the art stones and butterfly bodies a teeny touch of Treasure Gold - you can just catch some of the shine in the pic below.
This butterfly was added to an arch I had left over from my spring garden projects - the pale green crackle background just matched the wings but the other greens, the Prills and inky splats, are a little questionable!
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.
Wow Diana, beautiful projects as always. Love the recycling with the seed heads and the butterflies are amazing. Have a great week. Sarah #16
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty creations Diana, I have problems making flat cards I just have to embellish, embellish and embellish a little more so the cost of posting and ways to send it become more of an issue than creating it. These are truly stunning and will put a huge smile on the faces of those that will be lucky to receive.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration and sharing WOYWW Creative wishes Tracey #7

ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love those butterfly cards and I think all the greens go well together! Thanks for your comment on my blogpost earlier... I have good hopes that my crocheted basket will stiff allright, it's been outside ('dipped in glue') to dry and I couldn't help but 'feel' just now, it needs another day or so but will be just like I want it! Happy woyww and a big hug from Holland, Marit #19
ReplyDeleteI just don't know how you do it!! These are so beautiful. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning, who would have thought scraps could produce such beauty!
ReplyDeleteAmazingly beautiful, Diana- so love them all,- you are a master in creating gorgeous texture in your creations- and wonderful with the use of the seed-heads .

Sorry I'm late replying - been to Winchester to clear out my son's uni flat, visiting Julia en route!
ReplyDeleteGoodness Diana, I love those cards - everything just works from the rake type crackle background to the blobs (technical term!) on the wings. I love the yellow and black mix, such a smart combo. They are just gorgeous!

So, so beautiful. I am guilty of adding embellishments and having to pay extra postage :-) Thanks for popping by. Anne x #3
ReplyDeleteSo many little details I wouldn't have noticed but for your description! They're inconspicuous individually, yet they add so much to the pieces as a whole. The use of the paint covered seed head (the by-product of your gelli printing) is genius - I'll be on the look-out for those on my walks. Thanks for your visit earlier, Diana - I've only just found time to do my rounds - the perfect activity for a Saturday morning! Have a lovely weekend! zsuzsa #9
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous, gorgeous... I love the butterflies, Diana, especially the first ones. I am happy to say that this year we've got many more real butterflies in our garden, enjoying the buddleia. Butterflies are so lovely! Thank you for your two lovely comments and I'm glad you liked the picture. I got quite a jolt when I found it and all the memories came flooding back! No worries about the kefir - I've been far too busy lately and am behind with everything too so absolutely no problem. Sourdough bread is a lot better for you and more easily digested than normal bread and you may be OK with it, depending on the nature of your problem. I'm still struggling to make the perfect loaf and today's batch came out all flat again... I can't think what I'm doing wrong as I've followed lots of different Youtube videos and it should work! Fortunately it tastes good. The kitties are funny, aren't they! Why they've suddenly gone off the trolley is a mystery. I always wonder what goes on inside kitties' heads.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,

These are just beautiful! Butterflies are way cool!!
ReplyDeleteI caught a glimpse of these glories but didn't have time to stop and comment last week. The pressed seed head is magical and the layers of colour and stamping and the dimensional butterflies ready to take off all make me very happy again! Oh, and of course that crackle...
