This little Christmas scene has been a long time in the making, and for yet another year I've brought it out and sat it on my desk in the hope I'll finish it this winter!
It started life as a clock from a charity shop, I emptied it's internal organs out and
filled it with Grit Paste and Christmassy things. I've pretty much finished it now, just one or two little things to add as the background is rather bare and I need to work out how to illuminate the inside as it's rather dark in there.
I am joining in Julia over at WOYWW.
I enjoyed seeing so many of you at the evening Zoom meeting on Saturday - it was great to put faces to names! A big thank you to Julia for organizing it.
This is just lovely! Since I've been back to blogland, I find I have a new thing about clocks, little watches, post cards, sheet music, etc, wanting put them all together and here you've done it! Thank you for the snoop! Have a Happy WOYWW week. Stay safe! ((Lyn)) #15
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea to use a clock like this! It looks so delightful! It was lovely to see you as well on Zoom, Diana! I kept asking about your guinea pig, but I don't think anyone could hear me through the chatter! Have lovely week! xx zsuzsa #23
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is fantastic! I adore the little scene inside but haven’t seen lights small enough to fit in, I’m afraid. So brilliant to see you on Saturday, you looked good, girl!!

ReplyDeleteLovely to see you too! What a fab idea your little clock is. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing and hearing you on Saturday, although I seem to be the one who was black. I always LOVE your art and it always speaks to me. This clock is no exception. It's already a real beauty. Happy WOYWW from #2.
ReplyDeleteI love hour clock! You have created a fabulous scene!
ReplyDeleteI started one for my grandson's English teacher but before I could finish it, she moved out of state. It has been languishing on my Work In Progress table for almost two years now! You have inspired me to pick it up again. The last one I completed, I made using an empty tuna fish tin!
Here is a link to that clock. if you like making clocks it is a fun project.

Your little Christmas scene inside a clock is absolutely gorgeous, Diana! I love all the detail, and the clock makes such a beautiful frame for it. You are so clever at repurposing things like this - I remember ages ago you made an exquisite tiny little moss garden inside a vintage ring box, which completely blew me away!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment. I agree, it would have been so lovely to be able to have a proper chat on the Zoom, but with so many people, and everybody talking at once, it wasn't possible. It was so great putting voices and faces to so many familiar names, and I have to say that seeing you for the first time, you looked completely different from how I'd imagined haha!! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the kitties - they behaved pretty well and did model for the camera a bit, which was nice. I've done quite a few crochet squares but with everything else I'm needing to do, I'm only averaging one or two per day, and I didn't do any at all the past 2 days because I was too tired! I think my hubby may have to wait a while for his throw but I hope it will be sometime before next Christmas! I'm glad you liked my name badge. It's the first bit of Zentangle that I've done for simply ages.
Thank you for your commiserations regarding my hospital saga. They do have a complaints department - it's the PALS office (Patient Advisory Liaison Service, I think it stands for) - the surgeon suggested I contacted them about it. The trouble is, who do you complain to when the complaints dept. lets you down?!! I was furious to hear that that woman had left, and not bothered to do anything about my case. Anyway, a stiff letter is on its way to the Devon Referrals people and I hope somebody does something... One of the symptoms of our declining moral age is that nobody these days is prepared to take responsibility for anything, and I don't think all this online stuff really helps either, because people get away with behaving abominably when they don't have a face-to-face encounter. I'm sorry you had such a distressing time trying to get redress over your mum's treatment. By contrast, both my parents had absolutely superb care at Torbay Hospital and witnessing the dignity with which the staff treated Dad as he was dying, I shall never forget their kindness, both to him, and to us. Mum had equally good treatment when she was in for various things (she actually died in her care home) but unfortunately she behaved atrociously and gave everybody a really hard time haha!!

Diana, I think you could make just about ANYTHING! I always love seeing what projects you are working on! Such a wonderful idea with this clock and it is so beautiful!! I can't imagine what else you could do to it, although whatever you do it will only enhance it's beauty! What a brilliant idea! It was great fun on Saturday and hope to do it again soon! Blessings to you! Felicia, #29
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, you're so right it was brilliant on Saturday and can't wait to do it again. I thought I'd never get to the posts today, three deliveries of craft stuff, one delivery of a surprise raffle prize, walking dogs, sorting mum's vaccination, trying to finish some cards and that's without the usual stuff like cooking Lol! Loving your clock it's so special. Wishing you a lovely creative week, Angela x19x
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, your clock is delightful. How wonderful to take an old clock and repurpose it into something so charming. It was good fun taking part in the Zoom crop, but I lost my Internet connection in the afternoon one, so missed it. Thanks for stopping by earlier. I looked up the Elizabeth crochet stitch - goodness me, I won't be attempting that one any time soon! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, was lovely to see you and put a face to the name! I do hope we get to do more of these, it was so much fun, and very like a real crop, with lots of talking and very little crafting! Love the clock, it's a beautiful piece. You can buy tiny battery LED lights, that might work for this. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #12 X
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty and much nicer than the silver one I have had waiting to be decorated for the past five or six years. I love the way you decorated it too.
ReplyDeleteI saw you and your name came up underneath you but I didn't get chance to ask if it was "Velvet Moth". Now I know what you look like if we do it again I hope we get chance to speak to one another.
Hugs, Neet 8 xx
It was good to 'meet' you too on Saturday Diana. Such a stunning scene! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
