Crackle Paste and WOYWW 600

Wow, it's WOYWW 600th anniversary - what an achievement!
A huge Thank You and a massive Congratulations to Julia for bringing us all together and creating such a friendly, kind and supportive community each week.

I'm trying not to let the side down but this is the sum total of what I have done this week - using crackle paste that didn't crackle, inks and Glossy Accents.
I was planning on doing a lot more but other situations have arisen and taken up my time, however I decided to photograph it anyway as I could hardly not join in on the 600th episode could I!

  1. I've never been 100% successful with crackle paste - I think there are factors, heat, thickness etc that I choose not to consider, just whack it on and then get disappointed. These are very pretty though - they almost look like you have used waste from a die as a stencil, so giving me ideas!! Happy WOYWW, have a lovely week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy xx #30

  2. Ah, Cindy has pretty well beaten me too it...crackle paste and I have a bad history, it either crackles so much it ruins what I was trying to do, or it doesn’t work at all. I gave up, because I always take the easiest route. This heart is lovely...I wish my didn’t come out as I expected projects were so useable!

  4. HI Diana, happy Big 6-0-0!! Crackle mediums do tend to be a bit hit-and-miss don't they? It definitely helps to let them dry in their own time and just whack them on with one stroke and not mess with them, but still they sometimes just decide not to play! Beautiful results all the same though, I especially love that teal piece, it looks like old enamel or something, very pretty! Cheerio for now xOx Annie C #35

  5. You can't win with crackle every time... especially if it's an older one - but I love the glossy colours you've ended up with. Happy 600th!

  6. Oh, don't you just hate it when it doesn't crackle! Incidentally, I've used crackle paste on my perpetual calendar (you'll see it on my blog) and it crackled (cracked?) pretty well. I think it was from CraftBox (their own brand) - but I remember having success with the TH one as well. Yours look good though despite the lack of crackle effect - you could just say wanted it that way - no one would know the difference! Happy #600 Diana! Glad you've made it! xx zsuzsa #34

  7. It was so good to see your name on the list, because I always love visiting. Your art is always great, and even if the heart didn't crackle, it's still gorgeous. Happy 600th from #6.

  8. Hi Diana. Happy 600th! Glad you got here today. Never used crackle paste - so no idea whether it has worked or not - but I like what you have achieved... hope you do!

  9. Hi Diana, there are so many types of Crackle paste and they all behave differently and some seem to prefer different surfaces so it's a bit hit and miss I think but the hearts still look great to me. just wondering what the background is you used. Wishing you a very happy woyww and a lovely creative week. Angela x19x

  12. I just bought crackle paint (they'd sold out of paste) but so far it hasn't worked (did use too little I think) Your artwork over the years you've been joining in has all been outstanding. Happy 600. Helen #1

  13. Crackle, the bane of my creative existence! I have totally given up on ever being successful in my use of it! I do, though, like your projects!

  14. Hi Diana, happy 600th WOYWW. I love the colours you have used on your tags/cards. I have only used crackle paste a few times, but I must have struck lucky, as it has been really effective each time. From memory it was a 2 part crackle product I used. Thanks for stopping by earlier, I foresee my yarn stash growing rapidly, as there are such a lot of pretty colours. Once I have worked out where to store it, there will be no stopping me lol. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #25

  15. Love those hearts, I think I may have some crackle stuff somewhere if it hasn't dried up by now. I think all this snooping sometimes reminds us of stuff we could or should be having a go at!
Happy WOYWW 600 and Stay safe!

  16. Thank you for your visit Diana! And even though your hearts didn't turn out the way you wanted, they still look great! I still have some crackle paint left over from the 80's when it was fasionable to paint old sideboards with it. I looked on in hope to watch the crackling happen...it never did, just as well as the old sideboard had wood worm anyway and ended up down the tip! The tin is still in the shed...a full tin...can't get the lid off! Hope you're having a great week! Happy 600th WOYWW! Stay safe! ((Lyn))#18

  17. Beautiful beating heart Diana like a sign of WoywW friendship brought together. Yes it's a guessing game with crackle I do think temperature has a hand in it's success but the glossy accents is extremely affective, it's all beautiful at the end of the day.
So glad we connected via WoywW Happy 600th Hugs Tracey xx

  19. Whatever you think about your experiments, Diana, I think they are beautiful! Thank you for your visit. I thought it would be fun to do a final review of the tiny carpets/needle books project which has been going on for several months, now it's finished. I agree, I've got my work cut out to complete the cat throw by Christmas but I'm prepared to give it my best shot. Even being busy with loads of other things, I am still managing to average 2 or 3 squares per day, so there's hope, if I can keep going! You are right about the kitties and "their" new furniture lol!! Quite so... They are allowing us to sit on it most of the time but I foresee a time when we shall be reduced to sitting on the floor! They are convinced we chose the colour because it co-ordinates with their fur coats so beautifully. So far they have behaved very well where their claws are concerned, which is more than I can say for the carpet in the flat - they've had a real go at that, despite the fact that their favourite patch is right beside their scratching post!!

Happy WOYWW 600 and hope to see you on the Zoom,
