Embroidery Threads and WOYWW ATCs

After sorting out my ribbons and laces a few weeks ago I have tackled the last remaining area of utter chaos - my Coton a Broder embroidery threads!  The Sylko's are beautifully wound in their own box but I had a bag of tangled Broder threads that would make a naughty kitten proud of the mess.  Anyway here they are, colour co-ordinated, labelled and very user-friendly!
Along side them is the beginnings of some ATCs and my very old needle case that I made in primary school - I was so disappointed at the time when I asked for cream and got green background cloth - still I did a good job as it's lasted 50 odd years and still going strong!
If anyone would like to swap anniversary ATCs please let me know.

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. Those sorted out threads are a thing of beauty!! Seriously that makes me so happy, I know, I’m a basket case, lol! Well done on the needle case, how fab that you still have it after all those years and that it’s still going strong - not many craft tools could last that long. Yes please to a swap, pretty please!

  4. Hi Diana, well done with the sorting. I keep finding other things to distract me so our loft is still not in order even though we moved most of the craft stuff into the cabin months ago but guess it will get done some time soon....well maybe! I would love to swap with you unless you've moved I've still got your address. Happy creative woyww, Angela x19x

  5. 50 odd years - wow, some objects stay with us all our lives. What a precocious little needle book, even though it reminds you of a disappointment. I can empathise - when I was little, no more than 7 or 8, I needed some white socks for my "celebration" uniform - this was an outfit we had to wear for special occasions at school and it included unspecified white socks. My dad was going to pick me up a pair on his way home from work. I really wanted the long, lacey, fancy ones, but he returned with bog standard white ankle socks. I never told him how disappointed I was, but I still remember it LOL! Oh well, I was a tomboy really, how could he have known that I had a soft spot for lacey white socks, especially that I never told him. Good job with the thread organisation - they look really well ordered! I'd love to swap with you - I think I still have your address from 2019 but I'll check. Let me know if you need mine. Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #20

  7. Hope I am not too late to ask for a swap with you. I would love a Diana original atc please.
Love how you have sorted out your Coton a Broder threads - they look so pretty when viewed like that and what a nice thing to do when sitting enjoying the peace and quiet.
Lovely to see something you made in school is still going strong, wonder if i can find something I made years ago?

  8. I love that you still have your school made needle case. I have a little sampler that I made for my O level needlework and it makes me smile every time I come across it in my "odds and ends" drawer. I really should frame it for posterity! Yes - I will love to swap ATCs. I have emailed my address to you. xx Jo

  10. Funny how you've still got your needle case made from school days, Diana! I have still got mine, too, but it's a lot less sophisticated - a little red felt book with a black appliqué felt kitty on it. I was a late developer. Your threads all look so neat and organised. Mine are a jumble because I tend to be a rummager!

  12. Hi Diana. Those threads do look great like that - exactly how I keep mine - all wound round their little cardboard holders, labelled with their numbers, and stored in the boxes. Well done. Now you can have fun with them all.
    Take care. God bless.

  13. Well done for sorting all those threads Diana, that's a big job. I use the DMC Gold concept cases and they all stay on their skeins but held on plastic holders so ready for storage and use. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

  14. Thank you for your return visit, Diana - I saw the nurse at the surgery today and she's referring me on to the breast unit at the hospital just to be sure, and said I should get an appointment within a fortnight, which is good news. They don't mess about with suspected cancer. Thank you for all your kind words!

  15. Now you see, it’s that sort of colour organisation that gout me into craft shop owning...I wanted display stands of card and pens and whatever in such colour organised beauty. You will feel rightly a little S mug when you next use these threads! I suspect it will be a long list, but I’d like to trade ATCs with you......I’ll need an address when you have a mo. And erm, it won’t be sent early.!!

  16. Ah... be still my heart! There is something delicious about colour sorted items, particularly when there are lots of shades of each colour. I think we might have spoken about Beaulieu before, back in the days on my old blog. Mr Pretty has worked there since we came back from travelling about 17-18 years ago now. Late to the party this week - stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

  17. I have a sewing case made at school, mine looks as if it were made yesterday! That’s because I have never used it :). I embroidered a horse on mine and yes the material was green too. Have a great week Angela #23

  19. Thanks for visiting my blog the other day, I'm a bit jealous that you saw the Bay City Rollers in concert once... oh well, I still have those posters :D I love the green needle-case, moss green is my favorite color at the moment! Enjoy your weekend. Hug from Holland, Marit #28

  20. Oh My! your needle case reminds me of the one I made my mum when I was about 5 at school, I also made a top for the 'television, cover', (for some reason??) and that is what put me off sewing! It took two years to make the television cover! It was on that holey type canvus and covered in a x stitch pattern. The teather finished the inside of the needle case and the underside of the tv cover. As least all your colours look nice and tidy now!Sorry I;m late, I was here, but must've forgotten to press the button, I keep doing that! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #6

  22. Still trying to catch up with my commenting! Yesterday was Mother's Day here in Australia so after a lovely lunch and lots of fizz I didn't get anything else done...

    How organised are those threads!

Would love to swap but I am in Australia...?

    Happy Woyww!
