For the Focus On Life challenge over at the Studio Sublime the prompt for this week was 'texture'. Ooh, so much to choose from, but finally I focused on a large lump of coral that has been out on my desk while I've recently been doing some coral design artwork. I decided to photograph it against some old antique lace as it has a similar delicate, lacy look but is so completely opposite in texture. It's surprisingly rough to the touch for something that looks so 'spongey', and it's actually disappointingly unpleasant to hold considering it's so beautiful!
Such lovely textures and such a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeletebut it makes a gorgeous photo prop, especially with that sumptuous lace!
ReplyDeletehave a blessed week :)
Visiting from The Studio Sublime - What a wondrful picture Diana. It reminds me of some of Carolyn Saxby's beautiful pictures. Awesome :0)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and subtle collage, Diane! You have an amazing eye.
ReplyDeleteWonderful choice of texture on texture.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Love both the lace and the coral!
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect, I didn't notice the coral it blends in so well!
ReplyDeleteSo much lovely texture here. These are two of my favorite things; sea life and lace! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your picture... I missed the coral until I read your post!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture. Love the coral with the lace.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great combination. The coral centerpiece makes it look a bit like a flower.
ReplyDeleteGreat texture pic. I love old lace and your coral is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the contrasting textures! But put lace on anything and I'll swoon!
ReplyDeleteWow so alike and so different - what a great comparison!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so gorgeous and with so many tiny details and textures .... amazing.

This is just an awesome photo! Love the coral and the lace is so pretty - I just want to touch each piece.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a texture exercise. Coral can bite, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteAll that texture is so yummy I just want to crawl into it! (except apparently I should stay away from the the coral!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful comparison texture shot! And very true.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful texture shot!! Isn't it funny how the mind perceives the coral as sponge because of the appearance of the texture but it is the exact opposite! (i want to run my hands over that beautiful lace)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful photograph, When I first looked at it I thought you had made a lace piece in a coral shape, it looks so delicate. Whatever it's feel to the touch it looks stunning against the antique lace.
ReplyDeleteGreat texture, and the photo is so perfect that I can almost feel everything just by looking at the photo! The spikey spikey and the soft. I love that you used all white/off white, too.
