My Winter Garden and the Paper Artsy Challenge

For the second challenge over at Paper Artsy the subject we've been given is shiny things.  I am currently working on a series of pages in my sketchbook based on my winter garden, and this page seemed very appropriate for the challenge - I have used white embossing paste with glitter, translucent embossing paste, copper wire, Treasure Gold and iridescent beads.  I'm afraid my camera simply refused to acknowledge that there was any shiny, glittery, sparkly stuff to photograph - even on the closeups it's hard to see the glitter.  However the translucent embossing paste shows up quite well on the lower half of the page, with a shiny glass-like quality, so all is not lost!

  4. Indulging myself with a Sunday morning cup of tea in bed and a read of my favourite blog. I feel like Bruce Forsyth on strictly, because of course Velvet Moth Photography is also my favourite.
The wire, beads and scrim/jute work beautifully together Diana, as does the page as a whole. It's a feast for the eyes.

Brilliant idea to honor your winter garden too as it certainly does have special beauty in each and every season doesn't it.

  10. Oh, gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS... Your work is so mouthwateringly wonderful... I just love these pages you are making about your winter garden. Your colours are always so subtle and the textures scrumptious... I wish I could find the words to express how this work makes me FEEL!! It's so frustrating when the camera won't do it justice, isn't it. I am finding this with my embroidery, because the lurex threads look so dull.

    You are soooo talented.

  15. Back again and have been scrolling back through your work. I find it very stimulating and just my cuppa tea. Never heard of Tyvek and must investigate. If you have time, on my blog in August 2014 is a white journal page which has simiarlarities to your page. Not professing to be in the same league but wanted you to see. My stimulus was my fragility and vulnerability at the time. Loving your work!

  16. Am I really this behind on the blogs? I'm so glad I'm catching up, because otherwise I would've missed this beautiful piece. I absolutely love it! Your color palette is gorgeous as usual, those soft winter colors with patina accents. The copper and the glitter must really give it a spark, too!
