Night Garden and Paper Artsy Challenge - Circles

For the Paper Artsy challenge I decided to continue my work on the garden at night and do a page in my sketchbook using circles as the starting point.

I was inspired by the beautiful box decorated by Julie Ann Lee, who used text within circles.  I used Paynes grey and metallic gold acryllic paint with black texture paste and rubber stamping.  The flower image is cut from an old Royal Horticultural Society diary that I couldn't bear to throw away as I knew I'd use the beautiful flowers one day!

Sun Printing

Sun printing, and pale lemony green against a teal background.
Using foliage from the garden and scraps of lace, and a little hand embroidery.

Eco Printing on Paper and Silk

My sister's neighbour very kindly let me take some of her Eucalyptus leaves for eco-printing and I am really pleased with the results .  I steamed two lots of papers, and added a bundle of rolled up silk to each pan.
One lot of silk and papers are darker and a soft brownish mauve - just perfect for my night garden theme...
...and the second lot of silk and papers are a more delicate yellowy gold with a soft pale lilac and beige - perhaps it was the Crocosmia in this bundle that made it more yellow.

Midnight Garden Sketchbook Pages

Some pages from my Midnight Garden sketchbook.
I photographed some of the pages with a large and beautiful, almost black butterfly from my collection of old dead ones!  It reminded me of moths at night. I especially like it against the vivid blue of the cyanotype backgrounds.

A Mossy Teacup

A teacup filled with velvety mossy embroidery.
It's been sitting on my desk since Spring and at last I've finished it!
