Coral Dreams - A Boat Full of Treasures for Paper Artsy

I was so thrilled to be asked recently to do a blog post for Paper Artsy, on the theme of stencils.

The finished piece was a little boat surrounded by coral and filled with seashells and other special treasures!  Step by step instructions and information on the techniques I used are on their blog here.

Night Garden

I love my garden in the late evening, when the sun has gone down and the scents are often at their strongest.

I've been using fresh foliage picked from the garden for making cyanotype sun printsthen screen printing with beautiful, creamy Jacquard textile paint,
and lots of machine and hand embroidery - and there's lots more still to do!

Heuchera flower sun prints with printed seed heads

Printing over the marks left by teabags!

I knew moths would have to sneak in somewhere!

Mossy Teabags

A mossy garden embroidered on a teabag!

The Walled Garden

On my desk this week is a small textile collage.
It's following my current theme of the garden and it depicts a small walled garden, with an open archway leading into the flower garden.  It's about 6cm by 6cm.  I'd love a little arch or secret door in my own garden!

Spring Garland and WOYWW #310

I needed to get this out of my system.
I've had the flowers and berries in my loft for several years and
have been wanting to use them - but no idea for what.
Now I have no idea what to do with the finished garland!
But I feel better having 'scratched that little itch!'

Paper Artsy Challenge and Moss Garden

Another entry for the Paper Artsy Challenge and still being inspired by Leandra's video and the Adirondack Colorwash sprays.
Moss Garden teabags sprayed with Adirondack 'Espresso' and 'Lettuce',
then rusted and sprayed again.
I used invisible thread - it's springy - so the beads stand proud of the work,
like the tiny flowers on moss.

Paper Artsy - Sprays Challenge

For the Paper Artsy challenge we have had to use sprays.
I was inspired when I saw Leandra's video and I realised I have that same beautiful green Adirondack spray called 'Lettuce'!
It was perfect for my Emergence of Spring project,
and it was perfect for moss!

I used teabags backed with Vilene, Adirondack sprays, velvet, silk thread, silver wire, beads, rubber stamps and distress ink.

Egg and Spoon

On my desk this week I have a nest in a spoon!
I collect pretty teaspoons from charity shops and decided I needed to use some up before buying any more!

A huge thank you to everyone for their kind wishes last week - I really appreciated them, and now I'm back in the world of NHS time I'm hoping I won't have to wait too long to be sorted out again!
